Here Kaylee and Daddy are playing Xbox 360-Madden 08 while Jordan watched...haha! Kaylee kept grabbing at josh's controlly thingy so I just gave her one of her own which ultimately ended up in her mouth like every other thing she wants to hold. She has 4 teeth on the bottom now and the doctor said today that she has all 4 on the top looking like they will come at the same time some time soon. Josh said the other day, good thing you stopped nursing! I couldn't agree more! Yikes!
Here is another picture I took this morning. Kaylee is sitting up so well on her own. She will only fall down if she gets too excited or just gets tired of sitting. It is so fun because she is really starting to be more functional! haha! Sunday though she had her first big spill while someone else was watching her. She hit her head on the metal part between the carpet and kitchen flooring at Katie's house. It was so terrible! We all heard the noise and quick turned around to see Kaylee laying on her back. I quick rushed over and she just looked at me like what just happened? She hadn't felt that kind of pain until then. But I guess that's just one of many more boo boos to come. She had a nice bump on the back of her head and a little blue and purple bruise. My poor little bird!
Anyway...
I had a chance this morning to take these pictures because we decided to head to the doctors once more. Kaylee has been starting up a hard cough AGAIN. As most of you who have been following know, Kaylee has had this issue since she was only 2 months old. There is clearly something wrong. Here are the possibilities: 1. At first I was worried that she was allergic to Jordan... but the doctor said that it is unlikely since she is so young. Usually babies that young haven't developed that type of an allergy yet. Thank goodness... I have been playing with him extra these days just in case. I was really starting to get sad thinking that we might have to give him away. (but I was somewhat excited about the idea of getting new carpet! nice new, stain free carpet! haha! oh course Jordan means much more to us than any stupid carpet though). 2. She may just be getting cold after cold (or virus) from being in germy daycare, leaving no time for her airways to heal causing her to continually wheeze and cough. 3. She could have some other issue that could be much more serious.
So here is the plan of action. We got new medication to put in her nebulizer to give her once at night and once in the morning. This medication will help heal her airways more so than the other medicine so that the cough and wheezing will go away permanently. However, if it does not go away in 1 1/2 weeks to 2 weeks we will have to take her in for chest X-rays cause it could be something else. Yikes! The doctor said that this is a very hard thing to do, take x-rays of babies, so they have to put their arms and everything in like these plastic tubes. :( This makes me so sad thinking of her having to get put into plastic tubes and getting an x-ray at such a young age. So pray, pray, pray that this medication works. We need to kick these constant colds! Kaylee, however, is in great spirits and rarely complains about the colds. haha... She is always smiling and overall a very happy little bird!
Above is a little smiley picture of her. This is so typical. Always smiling!
It was kind of funny because Josh was in the bathroom on the first floor while I was changing Kaylee upstairs. She started saying it and I quick called Josh on his cell phone and told him to hurry and get up there. He told me he was in the bathroom and I told him to hurry up and finish and get up here so he could hear. haha. She continued to say it for the rest of the night and for the next several days. Don't know why but once Sunday hit she stopped saying it. But, this morning she just started saying it again on the way to the doctor.
Now we just have to work on "mama". Hehe!
On Mother's Day we went down to Lancaster, ate at a delicious Italian Restaurant called Florentino's and then headed over to my sister Katie's house for games and snacky foods for supper. Above is my mom holding my niece Audrey, and of course me holding Kaylee. Two very smiley babies.
This was not so for the entire time however. It was quite funny when Audrey had been talking to Kaylee a bunch while Kaylee was completely quiet. Then suddenly Kaylee decided to start talking. That was fine until Kaylee let out a loud scream and then Audrey began to shake then made a little sad face and began to cry, wanting to be held. It was so sad but so funny at the same time. Kaylee seems to be taking on the bully role that I once held when I was in elementary school. She must have said something Audrey didn't like in their little baby language. haha! Little stinker!
Lalala! It looks like they were singing.
So funny. Kaylee looooved watching Audrey! When we were at the restaurant Kaylee and Audrey were sitting next to each other in their highchairs and Audrey was talking to Kaylee and Kaylee just leaned over with her head back and stared lovingly at Audrey. Wish I had my camera for that!
Isn't this picture hilarious! I love Audrey's tongue! Haha! The girls had so much fun playing together and us adults (and kenny) had a great time playing games together and celebrating our awesome mom.
I really have grown to appreciate my mom more and more especially since I have become a mommy myself. Thinking back on my childhood, I realize that she really put up with a lot. I actually drew a cartoon depicting my childhood in phases for her and gave it to her on Mother's day. Haha!
Elementary School was the first phase. In this picture I was on the phone with my mom saying, "Hi mom" and she was saying "Now what did you do". This is a true story. I really had to call home nearly every other day to report something else I had done that wasn't so good. I will never forget the one day when I didn't have to call home and when I got home mom was at the stove making something and she said, "Do YOU want to tell me what you did today or do you want ME to tell you." haha! I racked my brain and spilled out every little thing I had done wrong that day. Nice one mom! I will have to use that some day!
The second phase was Middle School. In this picture I am running after three boys yelling "BOOOOOYS" and my mom is saying "oh brother!" haha. I was a little boy crazy in middle school. I remember in my year book highlighting all the boys I liked a lot and then putting highlighter dashes in the names of the boys that I sort of liked. Haha! I also went through my year book and wrote "cute", "really cute", and "hot" by the boys pictures.
Phase three was High School. I was a little stubborn thing and in this picture I was standing there firmly saying "I have no reason to be mad but I'm going to be mad anyway." Typical female teenager...I think?! Then my mom was saying "where ever did I go wrong with this child?" haha
Phase four was College I was holding Josh's hand and saying "Meet Josh" my mom was saying "who is this happy child and where did she find such a handsome man as this?" Haha! I of course started to straighten out my behavior by my junior/senior year of high school but in college I couldn't help but be super happy all the time after meeting my wonderful future husband!
Phase five was married life. Periodically throughout our marriage I have watched mothers with their daughter anywhere from at the mall to people I actually know and I have found more and more reasons to apologize to my mom for my past behaviors. So this cartoon showed one true story of an apology. I had just seen this and had to call my mom to apologize. The cartoon was me on the phone with my mom and I said "Mom, I just saw this girl and her mom. The girl was wearing a skirt that looked more like a belt. Sorry for that terrible phase!" My mom was thinking "It's about time she apologizes!" Haha!
Then lastly was the Childrearing stage. I was holding Kaylee (who as you know can be a real stinker. She's got some serious attitude at times) and she was screaming crying, I was saying "Ugg" and Kaylee was thinking "I have no reason to be mad but I'm going to be mad anyway." Then my mom was standing in the back saying "Hahaha! Paybacks!"
So anyway... I am continually grateful for the awesome mother I have! I wish I had realized these things many years ago. It's so funny how your parents tell you, "You will understand one day" or "You will be glad I did that someday" and it's soooo true. You think that there is no possible way you will ever be appreciative about certain things and then sure enough you grow up and are so grateful for all they have done.
Thanks mom! Love you!

She looks so cute sitting up so well!! yay for Kaylee!
I will pray so hard the medicine works for Kaylee... that must be so hard to see her coughing all the time. Could it be asthma related? I'm so sorry...
love your mother's day cartoon story! very adorable. Isn't it amazing how much more we appreciate our moms now? :)
see you sooooooon!
Hey Kendy! Great post! I cant believe how big Kaylee is now! I will definitely pray for her medicine to work. How scary! I passed through the Mechanicsburg area last week on my way to a business trip in VA. I really wanted to stop and say hey to you guys and Samuel and Philip, but I was with 2 other guys from work and we were all in one car. Oh well. Maybe next time! Happy belated Mother's Day!
While I'm not usually one for leaving comments on people's blogs, every man hopes to one day be able to play video games with their children...well done Josh Kovalik; you've made Mountain View 4th proud!
