So, Josh is about to start watching the debate and I just can't concentrate 100% on it. The most interesting part of it for me at this point in the election year is seeing how much makeup the hosts and candidates have on. With this said, I need something to do so I thought I would write a little post.
The "shocked" title comes from Kaylee on Saturday. We were at my sister's place and Kaylee had just finished eating and I said, "All done." Then Kaylee did the sign language and said the words "all done". I was in shock. My mouth dropped open, my eyes started watering and I just was in shock. My sister Katie was right there and witnessed it so I promise it really did happen. I have only gotten her to do it one more time since then.
Below is a fun little survey thing that I found on a friends blog so here goes mine:
How long have you been blogging? I don't know. Ummm... maybe a little after we had Kaylee.
What are the good things blogging has brought to your life? It gives me a way to keep everyone updated on us. Mostly Kaylee but Josh and myself too!
What would you consider the pitfalls? I'm not very good at writing. I write like I talk. If someone who doesn't really know my humor is reading it, they probably are very confused. I never use big words and flowery sentences. I jump back and forth from different subjects. It's probably really frustrating for some people to read.
Tell us about your blog name. Ever think of changing it? If so, to what? Why?
That was all Josh. He actually made up the blog and I don't think he has written anything in it since Christmas. The only thing I have done in designing our blog is I just changed the background/format to a wonderful Fall theme. I love this season! It's my favorite! I would have to think hard though for a good new name. Maybe that is what I can do to fill my time after I finish this survey.
Knowing what you know now, was starting a blog a good thing for you? Why or why not?Yes and No. I have so much I want to write but my time is limited when it comes to taking the time to write it. That is probably why my blogs are so long. When I have the time to write I write a ton! There need to be more debates on TV and then maybe I would write more often.
How do you think blogging, bloggers, or the blogosphere has changed since you started? "Blogosphere"... didn't know there was such a term. Well, I haven't been on here all that long but I know that the sites have gotten a lot cuter. I love the scrapbooky looks. I saw my sister-in-lawses new blogs with all the cute buttons and flowers and stripes and everything and had to find a new one for myself. I don't want fall to go away because I love my new look.
Ultimately, what would you like your blog to accomplish for you or others? I just want to keep family and friends (and sometimes complete strangers) updated on our lives. I also hope that with keeping everyone udated I can provide some humor for those of you who read this at work during a slow day or at home after a long day.
Name something or a few things that bug you and expound. We want your unfettered opinion(s). Here are the things that bug me: People bragging about how much they make or how much their husbands make (I was just talking about this with someone at work today), the sound of Styrofoam-drinking from Styrofoam cups, eating on Styrofoam plates, Styrofoam packing noodles, especially Styrofoam rubbing together... a similar thing I don't like is the sound of cardboard rubbing together. I get the chills really bad and have to close my ears. When people are talking and their "s"es are really high pitched and held out longer than the average "s". haha... I know I have weird things that bug me. Like, people touching my face. I absolutely cannot stand for my ears to be covered. I don't like cleaning without having a lot of light on in a room. It bugs me when people leave a light on in a room that they are not in (funny that these two came to mind together). Debates. Liers!!!!! My job (haha more so the people rather than the actual job). That is a huge one! Disloyalty. Bad secret keepers. Haha... Okay I am getting carried away. "Those are a few of my least favorite things...." I would really be curious to hear other's answers to this one!
Tell us about one of your best childhood memories.
During the summers when my mom would do a crazy cleaning of the house (she always liked to have the house cleaned top to bottom in one day... literally top to bottom. She would move all the furniture around the room and a lot of it out of the room to get under and behind things, she'd scrub the walls, and ceiling and everything..."crazy cleaning" as I said) so anyway... when she did this she sent us outside to play. We would play in the tall bamboo out in front of our house. This was one of our many forts. One time we carved some stuff on the bamboo and our neighbor girl came over and we told her that Indians lived in there at night and those were their carvings. haha! So imaginitive! We would make mud pies and then let them dry out during the day. I would play with my dad's old toy cars in the stone driveway, making paths in the stones that were wet from the sprinklers water. We would make pretend soups with different colorful flowers that either we sneakily pulled off of my dad's plants (he is a landscaper and has his nursery at our house) or that we found in the grass. There was this one weed that looked like clover with yellow flowers in it. We would eat those clovers because they were edible and tasted like lemon. Haha! Gross right? Wrong, they were refreshingly delicious! hehe! Then lastly, my mom would come outside with Kraft mac-n-cheese (we only had the spiral kind, what kind do you like the straight kind or the spiral?) with maybe some fruit and some good ole well water. Yum!
Ohhhhh!!! I just remembered something we did one time when we were playing outside and wanted to find an excuse to come inside. I guess we got bored playing outside or something that day. It was raspberry season and we had raspberry bushes there out by the nursery. We were eating them and then my sister Katie got this genius idea. She decided to rub some red raspberries on my knees then we ran up to the house and right before we got to the door Katie spit on her finger and put it under my eyes to look like tears and then made me run to the door and act like I fell and got hurt. My mom of course flipped and we got into a little trouble for faking an injury just to get inside. haha!
Sorry this is turning out to be so long. I think I am going to be one of those old ladies that constantly tells stories that start out, "When I was a little girl..." or "When I was your age...". One of those ladies that you just feel bad for so you just stay quiet and listen. I am so that lady.
Do you have a hobby that you love? I like to scrapbook. I have little time and money for it though. I LOVE planning parties. Whether it's a themed birthday or a silly themed little party at work I LOVE it. I love making the decorations by hand and theming everything. They make fun of me at work because I put a little too much effort into things like that.
What’s the most embarrassing thing that ever happened to you? I asked Josh for advice on this answer and he said, "Getting married to me." Haha.
The only one that comes to mind right now was when I was in 7th grade and I went to Knobles with my school. I had a one piece bathing suit and it was my first time going down a water slide that was like an actual sliding board. So I was sitting up straight like a regular sliding board and going down. At the bottom I saw all my friends at the fence directly in front of the slide end watching me come down. They all started yelling for me to lay down. So I did. The thing is... they forgot one other important direction... "Arms across your chest"... Soooooooo... I'm sure you probably know what happens when you get to the bottom of a water slide. You stop, but the water keeps pushing down... So that day those 7th grade boys got quite a sight! I was the talk of the trip!
What blog related thing bugs you?
When you put pictures on and they don't appear in the correct order. Rrrr... so annoying!
Personal stuff:
How old are you? 26 in a few days
Married? Yes
Children? Yes, one cutie tutie of a girly girl!
Favorite season? I loooooove Fall... Spring is nice too though! I love having to wear jeans but not needing a coat.
Favorite color? I like brown a lot! I love to wear it and decorate with it. Plus it's the color of chocolate... yum!!!
Favorite movie? My all time fave is The Breakfast Club
Favorite song? The Way You Are (at this time anyway) by Ingrid Michaelson
Mac or PC? Don't care really... as long as it runs
Dog or Cat? Dogs are okay (my dog is awesome though)... Cat's are not
Salt or Pepper? If you know me at all you know I use salt on everything... even bread!
Vanilla or Chocolate? Chocolate all the way!
Diet Coke, Sweet Tea or Evian? Evian!!! That's bottled water right? I only drink water really.
Steak, Chicken or Shrimp? Chicken and filet mignon only! Not clucking not mooing please! Haha!
Oh my goodness this was so long... I have been writing this for a full hour now! Haha! Wait... does this mean the bebate will be over soon? Maybe I can convince Josh to watch something on DVR with me!
Oh by the way I got an early birthday present today. I came home and Josh had printed out serveral pictures of Kaylee and us in black and white and he hung them and placed them around the living room. We have been wanting to do this but it has just been all talk until today. He even went to Walmart, his least favorite place in all the world to pick out frames for the pictures. They look so cool! I love my husband. It was so thoughtful of him to come up with this for my birthday! Perfect present! Thank you my hooooney! You're super great!
A fun, last-day-of-school activity!

fun post dee dee! :)
that's so funny, b/c normally i would be the same way with not being able to concentrate on the debates. this is the first election I have actually been really into, and we have dvr'd all the debates and watched them together! I have been trying to educate myself more on politcs (even though it's still not necessarily an interest of mine), although I still feel so far behind....
so sweet about the early bday present! go josh!
miss u guys.
Your pet peeves were totally my favorite :) Especially the styrofoam part!
I actually have been pretty into the election up until this last debate, surprisingly... This too is my first time really actually paying attention to the election. This could be one of the most important elections yet I feel... I'm just ready for the voting and to get on with things. I really have been pretty upset with the personal attacks stuff especially with Palin and her family and I just want to have a new president and move on with figuring out what to do to fix the economy!!!
