Our Romantic Getaway!

Here is a backwards account of our wonderfully romantic weekend away. I still have not figured out the best way to upload a million pictures in order on here.

Well... so Josh planned this great surprise getaway for us. A much needed get away. We have been so busy with doing this and doing that that we have neglected each other a little.
Josh text me a week before and said that he had a romantic weekend planned for us and that that was all I was to know until we left. But then on the way home from work that day on our usual phone call Josh said he hates keeping surprises from me and that he would show me when he got home. So check out what he showed me:

I was soooo excited. SHEEP! haha! We joked about going out at night and trying to ride them. It was too cold or we would have. Haha! It was so wonderful. Josh's parents so kindly watched Kaylee (even with her bad cold). We felt bad leaving her with her germies but she was well taken care of and had a blast with her Grammy and Granddad. She seriously didn't even notice we left!

Above is a picture of the flower I stole from our room. This was when we were leaving. Below is Josh writing in the journal for people who stayed in the room to write about their visit. We had fun reading those one morning! Some were funny, some had waaaay too much information (ew!) and some were very sweet and romantic. Josh wrote a nice sweet note about our stay and I wrote a goofy one.

Below is one of my two favorite foods of the weekend. Ghirardelli Hot Chocolate with homemade marshmallows. MMMM! The marshmallows were amazing! I stole some extra marshmallows the night before our last night so that I would have a bunch for breakfast in the morning. They brought us two cups each morning. Josh only drank coffee so I got to enjoy chocolaty marshmallowy goodness twice each morning.

The second thing that Josh and I both agree was the best was the chocolate cookies. It was like triple chocolate. We got the recipe from the Inn and are planning to make them tomorrow night (we were going to make them last night but the store was out of cocoa powder. I guess a lot of folks were making chocolatey goodness for vday). If the recipe turns out okay I will pass that along to you. They are amazing. Each afternoon they had a snack and those cookies were the snack the one day and so that night we went back to see if there were any left over and we took all but one of the left over cookies. I don't know how there were any left. They were just so delicious!

Josh liked this french toast and I did too until there was a smooshy piece and then it was over... I have a serious texture issue. The first day we didn't have a camera or we would have taken a picture of our grahm cracker pancakes. Again...texture ruined it for me but Josh really enjoyed them! Also there were these crazy oatmeal cookie biscuits that were pretty good too! Oh and the ham was amazing I must say.

Below is the outside, above is the inside. We went to a barrel tour at the Sand Castle Hill Winery. We learned about aging wine and got to taste wine in several stages/years of the aging. It was pretty terrible at first but really you could taste the improvement each year. The guy who did the tasting after the barrel tour tasting thing was HILARIOUS! He was one of the owners I believe and just made us laugh so so much! He had a very thick German accent so when you read the following read it with an accent. He kept trying to convince people to buy by the case. He said, "If you buy a case today there are three things that will happen. 1. You will have a place in our hearts 2. You will get a plaque with your names on it on the wall next to the building permit and 3. The bonus: You will get the air back into your tires."
One of the girls that was in our group said she didn't live far and his response was... "Oh then we do a pipeline" When she made her order he asked for her number and said, "And we are putting it in the men's room under the category for a good times" Haha! Anyway... It was a fun time and educational too!
Notice the structure of the building: Sand Castle Hill Winery.

Below is me getting ready for our night at the winery and then down in New Hope. We ate at what I kept calling Nervana but apparently it's Havana. It was fun to watch the different people there and the food was good. So... notice the robes on the door behind me? When we got to our room we looked all around and I said... "Awww... too bad they don't have robes for us." and then Josh informed me that they did in the closet. It was so perfect. I couldn't have asked for more. There was even a game closet with a stocked fridge!!! Does that sound like me or what? We love games and got to play scrabble a few times and yatzee too! SO FUN!!! We are now on a scrabble kick and have played last night and tonight. I am terrible by the way. As you can tell from my blogs I don't exactly have an extensive vocabulary or anything. Somehow I still enjoy it though. Losing isn't an issue for me I guess.

And here is the grand tour of our room. Our awesome tub which we totally took advantage of. It was very relaxing!!! Nice to just lay back and sip wine by the fire (over ledge).

Above: View from a different angle. Across from the tub was a double headed shower. AWESOME! That is like my dream for our future home now. We both want a huge tub for our future home but now I want a double headed shower too.
Below: The sheep pasture went right up to our window so every morning we looked out to see if there were any sheep... to ride. Haha! Seriously... I totally would ride a sheep if given the chance. One time I saw little kids ride sheep at a rodeo! It was so funny and looked like a blast!

Josh relaxing by the window.

Above: Notice the bird motif? So perfect. Since we were missing Kaylee it was nice to have this bird motif to remind us of our Kay-bird!
Below: This is the view from the door when you walk in.

Josh coming up to our front door. We had a cottage separate from the regular rooms at the original inn. Nice purse!

We fed the sheep right beside our cottage. Here I am giving kisses after I ran out of food to give.

Above: I LOVE THIS GUY! Isn't he just like a teddy bear? If I had to pick a sheep to ride, this would be my pick. He didn't really fit in with the others he was so sweet and cuddly!
Below: Josh feeding the sheep leftover breakfast.

Cool sheep.

This guy had crazy eyes! They were like whitish yellow.

Above: Okay so you totally can't see it but there is a deer right in the middle of this pic. When we arrived at the Inn we were greeted by 6 deer on the front lawn. I held on tight to Josh cause I was nervous they were going to get us. Deer charge sometimes! Haha! Then the next day we saw this deer out in the field who ran when he saw us.

It wouldn't be us if we didn't post silly pictures of our time. We love taking dumb pictures of each other. Above I am posing on the path to our cottage (Renee, I totally stole that long sleeved T under the shortsleeved shirt look from you! I was wanting to wear this shirt that I got for Christmas but it has been too cold so you gave me a great idea from your pictures!!!). Below: Josh is coming to get me! Ahhhh!

Hotty by the door. I liked the door so I made Josh stand by it for a pic.

Behind the funny Josh is the Inn. He kept throwing snowballs at me AND at the sheep. Still a kid at heart. So perfect for me! Hehe.

We had fun touring the grounds and taking fun pictures. We bugged this little sheep for a while. He did not like his head to be petted.

Peeking in a secret door.

You will have to look on the website for the front of the inn. We didn't take a pic of it. Opps! But here is the huge front porch.

The dining room. See the awesome cookies on the left. We couldn't stop eating them. We didn't eat in here though. We had our breakfast served to us in bed each morning.

We had a great time. Sorry it's all backwards!!! Haha! We missed bird but it was great being just the two of us. We both feel revived and more lovey toward each other which is always fun.

Although... it's funny because for vday last night... I went to bed at 9pm while Josh watched the Slam Dunk Competition. Honestly... for once I was really interested in it and I tried to convince Josh to DVR it and come to sleep also so I had to watch it by myself this morning. It is fun to see the crazy stuff they do! Did you watch it? If so what was your favorite dunk? I liked the 12ft. Super Man Dunk. That was a good one! It's amazing how high they are able to jump. Also... I enjoyed watching the shorty short Nate Robinson jump so high. It makes me feel like maybe I too can jump 10ft in the air!

Well... I think that is everything from our trip... well not everything but I'm not going to be like some of those people from the journals we read...
Tell me about your vdays... did you get any cool gifts or do anything fun/romantic?

Hey guys!! Your pictures are so cute! Brian is not much of a photo person so you're lucky to have these crazy pictures haha! This seems like something we would love to do! Our valentines day got off to a late start since he had to work from 6 in the morning till 6 at night. He came home & made an AMAZING dinner! Steak & Salmon with asparagus & potatoes! Yumm! I have been complaining that I want to go get my ring cleaned so we're going on Saturday to get it cleaned AND I get to pick out some diamond earrings! Ah! Hes never really celebrated Valentines day before so he wanted to suprise me which he definately did! But if I could pick between diamond earrings & the romantic getaway, I'd say the one-on-one time rates higher!

Talk to you love birds soon!! XoXo
