... you can't even stay awake until midnight on New Year's Eve. Yes, you read correctly. Our "eventfully" ringing in of 2008 involved me rolling over in bed and sleepily whispering Happy New Year to my peacefully slumbering wife. Of course, you must take into account that we didn't get much sleep the night before, I was under the weather, and we don't normally stay up past 10 anyway - and then the whole thing makes sense. However, the fact that I received a call from my older brother (who was out partying w/ my parents no less) around midnight wishing us a Happy New Years was rather humorous! No regrets though! We needed the sleep more than we needed a reason (other than our baby) to stay up past midnight. What's another New Year's celebration anyway? If you've seen one ball drop, you've seen them all!
While we not able to muster up enough energy to celebrate the New Year, we are not in denial that it did indeed come! Therefore, just thought I might share some of my resolutions for 2008:
#1 - Develop a daily routine: I've found that when I commit myself to a routine, I am able to accomplish so much more that day! Time is precious and shouldn't be wasted on unfruitful activities.
#2 - Let my family know I appreciate them: Pretty self-explanatory here. Time is short - make sure you invest in those you care about!
#3 - Eat better/Work out: I would love to get down to my early-college weight/shape if possible. Also, trying to cut out unnecessary fats, sugars, calories, etc. If anyone has any good, healthy recipes, please feel free to share!
#4 - Simplify!: Kendy and I already put this plan into action yesterday by cleaning out and organizing some of the rooms in our house. We had come to the conclusion that our house so quickly becomes cluttered - and for me at least, a cluttered house means a cluttered mind!
#5 - Do something new/Go somewhere neat: Our plan last year to take a west-coast road trip was slightly detoured by the birth of our baby. However, we are still hoping to make this trip a reality and would love to do so in '08! We love central PA, but you can only see so many cows and cornfields before you're ready for a change of scenery.
I think that I should probably limit these to 5 to make them a little more achievable. So there you go - my five New Years resolutions! Now it is your job, oh faithful reader, to keep me accountable. Kidding of course, but it is nice that I was able to get these down in writing.
Back to work. Hopefully you all had a safe and happy holidays!
A fun, last-day-of-school activity!
