I am still at the good ole Child Development Center at the New Cumberland Defense Distribution Center working with crazy 2+yearolds. They are all going through that terrible thing where they are on one side of the room and they see another child on the other side of the room pick up a toy that looks mildly interesting for that second and decide that it is "MINE!!!" I'm sure a few of you moms out there know that terrible phase. So then I have to sit them down for a 2 minute break and tell them "I don't like it" and then by the time the two minutes are up or even before, they forget what they have done to be sitting there and they proceed to go off and do the same thing all over again, only to be told to sit down and take another "break" (somehow my workplace has determined that the word "break" is better than the term"timeout", not sure why but I just go with it). It's fun. I love repeating myself every two to two and a half minutes. You should try it some time. It's great.
Seriously though, it is worth it to go through all that crappy annoying stuff (and I do mean "crappy") when you have a child, like one of my girls, who you hear talk so fluently and you know you have something to do with that. Like today, this child said when her friend gave her one of her goldfish, "Thank you so VERY much Gracie." Then when she was eating her goldfish she said very clearly (which I say all the time when we are eating), "Mmm, delicious."And a few days before when I asked her what she wanted to be when she grew up and she said, "A real princess." I said, "Oh and will you marry a real prince." She said, "Yessss!" Then I asked her, not expecting her to understand my question, "If you could change your name to any other name, what name would you pick?" She said, "Hmmm, Cinderella........or how about Belle?" I now call her Cinderella. I then decided to ask this other girl in my room who is talking really well what she wants to be when she grows up and she said, "Mickey Mouse." I died laughing! Then there are times when you are so glad that children are not yours, like when one boy told me repeatedly, "I pooped in the bathtub. I pooped in my bed." Haha! Crazy kids! Okay, I am totally going off on different random stories about my kids at work but they are just too funny! I really need to start writing the things they say down. If I thought I wouldn't get in trouble for it I would totally post pictures of the cuties on here! anyway... enough about my work!
Josh is busy working at home with Friends and Family Pizza Buffet stuff (websites, fundraising kits, etc) and Kaylee is busy discovering new things and developing in different ways. I will let Josh talk more about his work when he gets a chance but I can fill you in on Kaylee. She is sleeping upstairs right now and Josh is off at a soccer game. He has been having these late night games! Boooo!
Kaylee is getting soooo big these days. She cannot fit into her three month clothes because she is too long but she cannot fit into her six month clothes cause she is too skinny... it's a problem! She just had her 4 month appointment the other day and she weighed 14 lbs. and 14 oz. (75%), and was 25 1/2 inches long (90%), her head was in the 75% again. Her eczema looked pretty red when we took her in so the doctor gave us a prescription for a non-steroid cream for it. I decided to call and find out the price of the cream only to find out that at some places it costs $109 for a 2 oz tube. I did however find that at Walmart I could get it for $85. It is a crime what they charge for medicine for babies or for anyone for that matter. A crime! You know something is wrong with the world when you are charged an arm and a leg for something that will relieve a child from pain. Ugg! The doctor also suggested switching to Soy milk to see if that will help since a lot of times dairy based formulas can cause more irritation to babies with eczema. We of course switched but that is another item that costs more. However, the doctor said that there is a 10% chance that she will also be allergic to Soy. If this would be the case with Kaylee then we would have to switch to the hypoallergenic formula which is soooo much more! We of course would switch but that formula really adds up!
Anyway... on some happier notes. I have finally heard Kaylee belly laugh and I nearly cried. Yesterday, one of her teachers was holding her and I came into the room to pick her up. The teacher lunged her back and forth at me saying, "Get her! Get her!" and Kaylee just started giggling a ton. Tears came to my eyes and I just couldn't believe it! It was like the best sound! Then today, I went in on my lunch and break (a combined 45 minutes) to visit with Kaylee and she just continually raised her right arm in the air. It was so funny. She just kept putting it down and then raising it up again. She had her little fist clenched and she just put it up and down. I was trying to think of what it looked like and I came up with a few ideas. Perhaps she was putting up her fist to warn other babies to stay away, showing off her biceps, declaring something, trying to do the Miss America wave but got confused, doing that thing that President Bush does when he is trying to make a point, pretending to be the statue of liberty, or my favorite trying to inconspicuously smell her underarm to make sure she is powder fresh. Who knows??? It was just so funny though!
Kaylee is trying to sit up these days. When she is put into a bouncy chair or her high chair she will pull herself up with her ab muscles and then she will hold it for a few seconds and then go back to the inclined position. I think she will really be starting to sit up soon. Yaaay! Speaking of sitting. Kaylee when on her first buggy ride at work today. Just down the hall to a room where Steven Courtney was with his guitar and harmonica to play and sing for the kids. I was fortunate enough to take my morning break early so I could go and see Kaylee's reaction to the music. I heard she was fine until I left and then they had to go outside with her because she was crying so much. It's funny but I do think that she knows when I leave the room now. I think that she gets upset which makes me sad having to leave her in the mornings. But her teachers are so wonderful though and I know that one teacher in particular, Darlene, loves Kaylee like she is her own grandchild.
Kaylee has started eating cereal and is doing a great job. At night she is really tired and will start to cry because I can't get it in her mouth fast enough. She looooves eating her cereal and she loves to watch us eat too! We are totally loving her more and more every day. Our favorite thing now is to hold Kaylee after we feed her and just let her cuddle against our chests. She is so so sweet after her feedings. She is our little cuddle bug! Can't wait to see what happens next.
Below are some pictures of the past few months. There are some other really cute pictures but she is in the buff and there are weirdos out there so I am not going to post them. Hopefully some day you will all get to see my scrapbook, that has yet to be started, and you can see all the other cute pics too!
Mommy and Kaylee outside in the snow! You can still see the snow coming down.
Kaylee trying to figure out what I'm doing with her while I sing, "Fly Eagles Fly!"
Kaylee and her boyfriend, Aiden, totally flirting at the superbowl party. What a handsome little future son-in-law! haha!

Kaylee visiting with her cousin Mia. I thought this picture was so cute. Kaylee is lovin' it and Mia is like "What the... who did that?"

Kaylee and mommy at Grammy and Granddads.
Kaylee upset cause the food isn't coming fast enough.
My new favorite picture of Kaylee in her new big girl PJ's. I saw they had an owl on them and I just had to get them since Josh and I have this thing with owls.
Kaylee getting ready to eat with her embroidered bib from her Aunt Tamara and Uncle Mark and cousins Lauren and Rachel. Thank you! We love it!

I don't know if you have tried aquaphor for eczema but it helped Jacob a lot. They make some for babies but it's basically the same as the adult formula I think. We used the baby kind for a while but now I used the adult kind for him and he is fine. It's best to put on right after a bath and it helped it with in 2 weeks. It's worth a try to save money. It's not really cheap but much better than the perscription.
Glad to finally see some updates from you guys! I was missing out on some new pics of my niece! Hoping to see you guys in the near future once this baby comes. I also have always used Aquaphor for Alex and we still use it now--I give it 2 thumbs up!
thanks for the update, kendy! it sounds like you're doing great as a working mom.. and kaylee is SO DARN CUTE! i love all those photos of her. and speaking of scrapbooking... did you know that owls are "hot" these days? be on the look out for tons of products with owls in them. and i've been wondering if you guys ever received the package i sent to you? it would have arrived while you were at the kovaliks house for Christmas and i've been worried it may have been stolen? hope you received it, though! happy leap year day! - tamara dunkin
cute pics!!! (although what a funny one of Mia! the poop up her back must have been the culprit for her non-smiley-ness) :)
